Piano Teacher at TPY

My name is Charmaine Saw Xin Yi and I am currently a Year 3 Law Undergraduate studying in NUS. I have 2 years of experience teaching 2 students piano (aged 9 and 13) recommended to me by my peers.

I have a strong background in music and have a passion for sharing and teaching music. I have been in several choirs for over 10 years, and I was the student conductor of my secondary school and junior college choirs, giving me great experience in teaching music.

I was a Music Elective Program (MEP) student in my secondary school (Nanyang Girls’ High School), and I took H2 Music in my junior college (Hwa Chong Institution), where I majored in piano for both. I had experience performing and participating in recitals through my studies in music over the years.
I am very eager to continue to share and pursue my passion in music by teaching piano.

I am patient and encouraging as a teacher. I adopt a firm yet facilitative stance towards teaching my students. I will definitely push for them to realise their potential by tailoring my teaching methods according to how they learn best. I will be stricter with students who tend to lose focus and misbehave but will be much more encouraging for shy students who lack confidence in their musical ability.
