Jenny's highest music qualification is master degree in music. Jenny has a unique philosophy in her teaching method, she strongly believe that scoring well for piano exams is a kind of science, and has a unique formula to follow, the formula is proven to help many students to emerge becoming good pianist in Jenny student’s piano recital and score colorful result for diploma exams. Check on her webpage to enjoy the performance! Jenny’s interest in music was rewarded when she garnered the highly sought-after Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Diploma 2001. Soon thereafter, she continued her studies at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, where she emerged as the best pianist in her class during the 2003 graduation recital. She was also awarded the prestigious Lee Foundation scholarship, which she obtained to further her studies at the University of Wales, England in 2004. Over the next two years, Jenny did her Masters degree (Postgraduate studies) in Hamburg, Germany, at the Johannes Brahms Music Konservatory, under renowned Russian pianist, Irina Kolesnikova. Her study in Hamburg proved to be a great success, with two acclaimed recitals, where she obtained a distinction in her graduation assessment. Among Jenny’s tutors are renowned musicians such as Ms. Hau Ping Ping from Malaysia, homegrown, talented pianist Mr. Ong Lip Tat, as well as Professors Irina Kolesnikova and Manfred Fock from Germany. In addition, she has also attended master classes with renowned American pianist, Professor Ruth Slencynsky. Today, as a seasoned performer, Jenny dedicates her music knowledge to a successful teaching career in Singapore. Besides providing preparation for piano exams, Jenny also organises piano concerts for her students at the Esplanade every year. Jenny scored distinction in both her master degree graduation recital in Germany and diploma graduation recital in piano performing arts, she also completed her ABRSM Piano Diploma at a young age and she is uniquely qualified to teach you and help you receive your own diploma certification within short period of time in Singapore. Over the last 15 years, she has helped many students build the technical skills and music theory needed to pass the exam, and she will work with you individually to prepare you as best as possible. When giving one-on-one private piano lessons, Jenny tailors each program to the strengths and weaknesses of the student, so that you get exactly the type of help you need to get your own ABRSM Diploma qualification in Singapore.
All our theory students takes ONLY 2 years to complete grade 8 and Jenny is very experienced and confident in teaching theory grade 1 to 8.

-Duration is 1 year, to cover topics in Gd 6 to 8 theory

What is a good piano?
Unless you are purchasing a piano for solely display purpose in a hotel lounge, the question that should be asked is what are the characteristics of a good piano suitable for a performer or a student. A piano that trains the student to be a performer which requires one with keys that allows the different nuance of a piano tone to be reproduced.
In Jenny Piano Lessons, for beginner students even as young as 5 years old, we recommend a piano with a heavy touch. This allows the student to develop the strength and technique in the future to play passages that require heavy action.
Why the need for heavy touch
Consider a weightlifter who is specially trained to carry weights, some as high as 200 kilograms. A weightlifter that receives such training can easily perform variations such as lifting a weight that is 100 kilograms, and can perhaps lift it with one arm. He can also easily lift up two grown adults with minimum effort. These are the special skills that persons with no special training can perform.
Extending the weightlifter example to the pianist, a pianist that is trained to play on a heavy touch piano will develop the strength to be able to perform varied tone and dynamics. With the capability to play loud, he will have the able to play soft and perform the varied nuances of the piano. In our piano lessons, a student is advised to purchase a piano with a heavy touch, the capability to execute the different tone colours is good but not required especially if he is a beginning stage. Once the student has developed the strength, he will be taught to execute the different colours and dynamics required of the works he is practising.

About Teaching Aids
To ensure that our teaching is systematic and helpful to every piano teacher and students, we have a specially designed teachers training workshop for piano teachers. Jenny likes to share her secrets of how to help piano students to achieve excellent results in ABRSM piano exams. Jenny has invented a set of piano learning aids to help piano students memorise the fingerings for piano scales, this invention is popular among teachers and students because it helps to make piano lessons easier and it allows the students to master the scales fingering within a very short period of time so that the teacher can focus on teaching other exam pieces during piano lessons.
These scale templates are helpful for piano students who have difficulty in reading the notes and both hands coordination. For those Students who are taking piano exams, the templates can help them memorize the fingerings of every scale from Grade 1 to 8 quickly without reading the notes. All major, harmonic and melodic minor scales are included in each set of scale template.
They will also discover which scales have the same fingerings and hence memorize less fingering. The Templates are printed in 3 octaves with fingerings for both hands together and can also be used for practicing both hands in similar and contrary motion or scales of 3rd and 6th apart.
